LCD SWAP 1680 to 1920

Is it possible to upgrade the LCD in the A1229 from the 1680 x 1050 (Glossy) to the optional 1920 X 1200 (matte)? If so does the inverter need to be changed too?

I've made multiple upgrades to the machine already. From the Ram (4GB to 6GB unmatched) and a 1TB ssd/hd hybrid to the OS I feel like the LCD should be upgraded as well. It could be replaced as it has some weirdness around the edges. It isn't bad enough I HAVE to change it but if I replace the hinges (which seem loose but aren't loose where they attach to the case and display case) i might as well change the LCD too.

Thoughts of the swap?

Thanks in advance!

What are the last three digits of your serial number? this will allow us to properly identify your computer. also, it will help if you can give us the numbers that are on your current display panel so we can see what you currently have and can check the LVDS pinout etc.

XA9...I haven't taken it apart again yet to swap any of that out so idk the numbers on the back of the display panel. However when going through "About this Mac" I've found that this particular one already has a 1920 x 1200 display.

So if that is the case i should be able to do the swap without question. My next question would be what are the benefits?drawbacks between the matte display and the glossy version?

Preference mostly, a matte finish has less glare, but is not quite as crisp. Given where you use the system (desktop or laptop) will have a large bearing on what is workable for you. My desktop system at home is a gloss screen (iMac), but my two laptops have matte screens, as I tend to use them outside or in my kitchen were its quite sunny.

not really much of an update since you are already Hi-res. Just like what Dan said, from here on it is strictly personal preference
