iPhone 4s Starts, Shows Apple, Display Goes Black But Phone Runs And Shows In iTunes

I have an iPhone 4s and replaced the original cracked display that was working fine besides being cracked.

It was running IOS 6.0.

It worked fine for about an hour after the replacement (besides having wifi

greyed out : ( ), then started acting weird, glitching, showing different colors as if something was wrong with the display.

Restarted and same issue.

Restarted a couple more times and the the screen became inverted ???

Went to Accessibility and changed it back to black on white.

After a short time (minutes) the display decided to go black (It died?). The phone was still showing up in iTunes though.

The display connector was firmly attached when checked.

At this point when I would put the phone in recovery mode the display would show the recovery mode icon even though in normal mode it was black

I got a replacement screen and when I installed it the first time it started up, it showed the apple for a few seconds, then a black screen but was starting up (vibrate switch was vibrating, phone showed up in iTunes).

I restored the phone (to IOS 6.1.3 unfortunately) and the display seemed to work (showed setup screens and allowed setup) but would only work for a brief time (5-10 minutes) after being set up before going black again (but the phone was still running / showing in iTunes).

After the restore my wifi was not greyed out anymore : ).

I restored numerous times with the same thing happening but shorter and shorter periods of display operation (after about 5-6 restores).

After a while the phone would restore but as soon as the setup was finished the display would go black almost immediately until finally the display became garbled and went black, and even if I did a restore the apple only came up for a split second before the display went black.

I reinstalled the original cracked Apple display and now it also does the same (apple for a split second but continues to boot with a black display.

This phone is not / has never been jailbroken.

I am running iTunes version 11.0.4 and OS 10.8.4 on a mid 2009 13" Macbook Pro.

Still no love. Any ideas?

Any recommendations for a vendor that can repair this inexpensively if there is no solution forthcoming??

Ok so I let the battery run down completely, then put the phone on the charger. I know the display is good because it shows the charging indicator (big battery with minimum charge red line). I let it charge up, battery indicator continues to work showing green charging bar and now the phone seems to work. Any ideas on what caused this?
