While in sleep mode, computer will randomly restart

When in sleep mode, the Mac will shutdown and restart. upon reuse, I have to choose if I want to send in a report or to ignore.

Update

iMac EMC 2428 2.5 ghz core I5 intel 21.5". Sorry for the lack of info on the mac, that has since been corrected. Today with advice from a friend I Did a command S when booting up and typed the command fsck -fy. Not exactly sure what this will do, But we will see if it works.

Solución Elegida

You've provided a very generic ID of your machine so I'm offering you a generic solution: Disable sleep mode, instead turn off the machine.

Some of these iMacs are prone to sleep "issues" there are a variety of causes and solutions.

Also check that "automatically restart after a power failure is unchecked (you might be having mains power problems at your location), verify that there is not a "scheduled" wakeup or start time set in System Prefrences-> Energy Saver:Schedule.

Look here and start going down the list. '' Ensure that you have 20% free space on your HD (if you have a 320GB HD you need 6.5 to 7GB free).

This might also be the case.

Goto System Preferences<Energy. Pls check if your Mac is not set to automatically restart after a power failure. The Mac consider your wake up call and unable to handle the power surge during the process resulting in restart. Try resetting the energy saver settings to restore default.

Thanks

The mac had the automatic restart UNchecked. It appears that the fsck -fy might just be working. No problems for a few days

You may want to check what processes are running (Apps) using Activity Monitor. Its' possible you have something burning through your systems memory which then causes it to crash.
