I used a small paper clip. I snipped off a piece roughly the same size as the pin in the case. Then I used the tip of a screwdriver and a hammer to gently pound it into place and make it flush with he edge.

I literally just reassembled my iPhone 5s with a custom color housing kit for it. It is VERY possible to re use that same pin that supports the power button bracket. What you do is get the flathead screwdriver that comes with the screen replacements, you know, those small ones with the black plastic grips. Take the sharp edge and try to at a good angle to push the pin upwards torwards the top of the phone. When u see it go up a bit, use tweezers to grip the very top of the pin that you managed to push up. It will take a little bit but it works every time. I did it as proof and can confirm it.

I'm guessing the pin that's embedded into the frame so the power button plate can swivel outward when replacing.

I haven't personally removed the pin yet, But I've changed a couple power button cables. It would appear that you could use a small pair of needle nose pliers and grab the pin and push it up until the top pops out and then grab the tip and pull it the rest of the way out.

I hope this helps!

Let us know if you managed to get it out. I've had a lot of people wanting to do colored glass and colored backs on their iPhone 5's here at my shop and this would deff be a problem if we order color backs and cant get that pin out to attach the power butter properly.

I did it. You have to wreck the original case to extract the pin. It is impossible to grab and pull. Be careful not to bend the pin when extracting or ruin the new case when hammering it into new one. If the pin is too out of shape, DO NOT INSTALL IT INTO THE NEW CASE. It will be stuck and you will have to wreck your new case to pull it out.

The pin is already available in Chinese web stores. Not sure about anywhere else

I used a needle from my mom's sewing kit. Find a needle with the right thickness and put it in the hole. Mark the height with a sharpie. Cut it *just a little too high*, then hammer it in.

Alternatively for anyone that does phone repair often (as many of us do) you can buy the pins on the likes of eBay - I picked up 20 for a massive 99 pence. Saves a ton of hassle and speeds up the refit. I add a tiny touch of epoxy to the bottom end of the pin to keep it in place - last thing I want is for the pin to slip out at a later date for whatever reason.

Literally search IPhone 5 power button pin on eBay and you'll find them. These are one of the few things I get from eBay simply because of what they are.

My iPhone 5 was not charging. I thought I need to replace the charging pin which cost 261$ But luckily I used safety pin and cleared the few debris inside the charging pin. After that phone started charging saved me 261$
