iPhone5 struck on apple logo and then moves to a red screen...

My iphone's display was broken and i got it changed today..After switching it on,it is struck on Apple logo and when i tried to hard reset it,still i gets struck on the logo..Later i entered the DFU mode but it gives me an error..So i have no way to get it switched on..I cannot go to an apple store as i got the screen changed from outside and i think it might have ended my warranty...

Well this happened to me when I was repairing a customer's phone. I have done about 10 iphone 5s and countless 4s and 3s. I am a repair guy.

What happened ... first the phone went together and turned on fine after replacing the screen but when I tested it the proximity sensor wasn't working. I opened it back up and fixed this but noticed when I put it back the lcd connector on the new sreen had a slight curve to it. I put it on and the proximity sensor worked but the screen was flickering so I tried connecting it and reconnecting it but it still flickered. I tried a soft reset (holding the sleep/power button and the home button till the phone shuts down, continuing holding button, till apple sign comes on then release both buttons). It then went to DFU mode, when restarting the phone apple logo comes on and at the top of the screen you will see some text at the top of the phone, and then the dredded red screen. I put on a new screen and it still was stuck tried several resets, plugged into to itunes no luck. Tried checking connection all was good. @#$%% to say the least. Well I read it may be the proximity sensor but I feel what caused this was the fact that I was plugging in the lcd while it was on. I should have powered down the phone first.

I did fix it though finally and here is how. Let the battery run all the way down then gave it a good charge. Note it still turned on in DFU mode though. Then I plugged it in to my computer and while plugged in did the power reset mentioned above. So try this fix.

1. plug in to computer and open itunes.

2. hold power/sleep button and home button down simultaneously unitll shuts down and apple logo reapears. Release both buttons.

3. let it retart. I tunes should recognize the phone and it should be out of DFU mode.

NOTE I did not need to restore the phone. Luckily.

Tip: Back up your phone to icloud or itunes frequently. :) and repair guys power off your phone before you do repairs or reconnect any screens.

Good Luck.

In my case the issue was caused by the proximity sensor. Try disconnecting the sensor and booting up the device.

I had the same problem, tested lcd while the phone was powered on. Got red screen and kept rebooting itself and then dying at a red screen continually.

Solution #1: hold the power button and home button for at least 60 seconds. The Iphone will try to restart but keep it held down until it stops trying to turn on. When u think it stopped trying to turn on then plug in charger and hopefully should work

Solution #2: dismantle, and install flex cables once again. Reassemble.

Solution #3: replace faulty lcd, OR replace the board, OR both

You work in this industry, you should know better than to give such advice. Blame it on the last guy that touched it? Real nice.

Agreed, nothing makes me madder than someone who blames the last guy!

If the iPhone shows Red or Blue screen during first 20sec of booting > ( 80 % USB IC problem ).

If the iPhone shows Red or Blue screen at the end of booting > ( 60 % Software Problem ).

The proximity sensor is the sensor in the phone that turns the screen off during a phone call. It is attached to the flex cable that includes the front facing camera and some other goodies.

Just received and installed a replacement screen for a iPhone 5s. Finished install and restarted the phone only to be met by a red screen popping up after seeing Apple logo. Searched this site and came across this discussion, so I followed instructions suggested by others.

Disassembled phone and noticed that part of one of cables connecting to screen was exposed slightly and loosely covered by a square piece of tape.

When removing the tape, you can clearly see the exposed wiring underneath. Not scraped off but it looks as if this area was not properly coated during fabrication process. I don't know if it was iFixit or whomever they ordered this part from but they made an attempt to cheaply disguise this exposed area.

I live in Mexico City and have ordered replacement screens for my wife and myself before. Not once have I encountered this sort of issue before. Frustrated for multiple reasons, least of all having paid $33 in shipping fees just to receive a defective product.

Hi, you can restore your iPhone with 3uTools.

Make sure your iPhone is recognized by 3uTools, then you can flash your iPhone.

This is caused by the proximity sensor. It was either damaged during the drop or repair. It will need replaced.
