Annoying echo after replacing dock connector?

In an attempt to clean the dock connector on my iPhone 4s, I used a light spray of electronic cleaner, which apparently didn't agree with the microphone. A new dock connector assembly was in order.

I replaced the dock connector and mic assembly with success, but now everyone I talk to complains of an annoying echo on their end.

If I remove the back of the phone, the echo disappears. In fact, if I leave the screws out of the bottom of the phone and simply slide the back up an 1/8" or so, the echo goes away. Seems to be a acoustic/mechanical issue.

I found a post here complaining of the same issue which was solved by placing some thin foam inside the phone, but I haven't had any luck with that.

Any suggestions?

Yes, I transferred the rubber spacer from the old dock connector to the new. I've been able to get satisfactory performance by placing a small square of high density foam in the area of the mic.

There was a tiny rubber piece that was on the ribbon cable from the dock connector to the mic that I lost during the replacement. It is very small and easily lost. I think they may have something to do with it.

so is your echo problem solved ?

Yes, it's fixed, but the only way is with a piece of foam sandwiched between the phone and the back.
