Where do the cushioning pads go back?

I followed your 5th Gen iPod guide to a T, but it describes everything except where to put the 'cushioning pillows' back. Both of mine fell out (just like in the video) before I could see where they were sitting. I've been through your website and googled for a photo showing this to no avail. Please help, I've got the thing all apart.

Lisa, which pillow are you talking about? Do you mean the grounding pads? I am planing on working on one of mine and may be able to provide you with the information you need.

In the video mentioned above, there are 2 little grey rubber squared U shaped pads with a little tab coming out one side that the guy mentioned were called the Cushioning Pillows. Name is - Installing iPod 5th Generation (Video) Click Wheel Button. Can't figure out where to put them. It appears that all parts are working (button on logic board clicks normal with my finger pushing on it), but the center button was stuck in the pressed position.

Sorry, the video is on www.powerbookmedic.com/manual.php?id=19. The Step by Step ifixit guide makes no mention of these rubber items and the click wheel is obstructing the underside of the button placement in the photo so not sure if they're to key to holding the center button up or not.

Lisa, any chance you could take a quick image of the items in question and post it with your question? I do not mean to sound dense, but I am a little lost here. Again, I will work on a repair and can most likely help you out, if I know which ones we are talking about.

Sorry, I meant to write that I finally found them on the photo, but then lost my wifi connection. I found a way to Add Images through the Edit tool, but have no idea why they don't appear.

Meanwhile...from your post on 'Select Button - Rubber contact pad slippage' I discovered the black rubber pad that had indeed shifted, so went back to the guide to look elsewhere for those grey U-shaped things. Found them. They are the blue 'rubber bumpers' in several pictures and mentioned in Step 7 of the 'Installing Click Wheel Button' guide.

Thanks for your patience. Now that the button works again, I have to research why my screen continues to only show the Apple logo rather than my playlists. Will do a reset, but goes back to the apple. Sigh.
