Besides the model number, does it have a chassis number on the data plate?

I have the same problem. Did you ever find a solution?

Green blinks 3 times repeatedly - TV is powering up from power save mode. This could be related to a bad main board or a bad power supply. Since it is a Toshiba, and they have become increasingly belligerent and consumer/repair unfriendly, a service manual is extremely difficult to obtain. Try and post some images of your power supply, mainboard and other boards as well.

==Update ==

thanks for the pictures. It appears that there are at least two fuses. It can help if you can tell us if the logic board descriptor for the two components has an "F" in it. Check those with a multimeter for continuity.

Yes they are fuses, Fuses are ok, caps ck ok.

That is good news. I am still trying to get more info on this model.

I have read that 3 blinks means the SEINE board is not booting up, some say it needs to be flash again, 4th video board, I would like to find what component is bad, rather then changing out all the boards, not cost effective , thanks

Toshiba 46SL417U this is the correct model number

- de

The LED on the left blinking green 3 times is power-up, the LED on the right blinking green 3 times is what Toshiba calls a "BUS Error" which basically means a hardware fault.

Could be any number of things. If you have the latest firmware installed, and even if not, it's probably a hardware problem. Could be a "bad" power supply board or seine (main) board. Also possibly a bad LED driver board. You sound like you know a bit about electronics, so if none of the caps are bloated and all fuses have continuity my next piece of advice would be to disconnect all the cables from their respective headers and use a hair dryer on "hot" to briefly blow off the boards, headers, and cable connectors. You'd be surprised how often that works.

If you still have no luck, it's time to test the entire PS circuit starting at the 110AC cable header on the PS board. Then use a screw head or the chassis as your ground contact and test each of the pins on the PSB headers for correct voltage. Most likely culprits are the 5v pin to the seine board or the 24v pins to the LED board. If the 5v checks out, unplug the header from the PSB to the LEDDB and see if it turns on. If it does, shine a bright flashlight at the screen and if you see a picture you know that the problem is in the 24v regulation portion of the PSB or the LEDDB.

If that gets you nowhere, try repeatedly trying to power on the set with both the softkey and the remote; it also sometimes will turn on if you hold the remote power button for 5 secs. If you can get the set to turn on, even if you get no picture, you can then check the rest of the PS circuits. Start with the 2 headers to the SB. You should have good 5v, 12v, and 24v on those pins labeled as such and 5v or 3v3 on all the pins that don't have a voltage specified in the header label (except the two PWM pins). Make sure that you test each pin for at least 5-10 secs to make sure the supply is steady. This will (hopefully, almost certainly) point you toward a particular component chain (in the case that proper voltage is fluctuating or not present) that you can then test piece-by-piece or you will have eliminated all possibilities except a faulty SB or Display Driver board (though bad DDBs are rare, to my knowledge).

Good luck,

Bill

I don't have the exact same model TV you have (46LX177) but I called Toshiba support and the support guy had me try this and it worked first time through.

Problem: TV shut off unexpectedly, won't power up. There is an amber light that blinks 3 times on the front.

Solution: Unplug the TV from the outlet or power strip. Hold the TV power button down for 40 seconds, release and then plug it back in to your power outlet. Power the TV back on with your remote.

If that doesn't work for you, don't hesitate to call Toshiba Support (800-631-3811). Even though my TV was out of warranty, they still helped me out, no charge. Good luck.

Thanks Rose,

My 46SL417U didn't work that way, so I called Toshiba. They said hardware problem; could be power board or main board and they gave me local repair service info.

Edgar.
