How to fix drowned iPhone 3G?

My iPhone 3G got drowned almost a month ago..when I got it off from the pool, it was completely off and very hot. I tried to turn the iPhone on but it wouldn't turn on. I brought it to the repairman and he told me that the interior got short circuited. Is there any way my iPhone could be revived or can my photos and messages be recovered? I need help, I'm desperate-ish. Thank you so much!

Korina Segaya, never assume anything until you have proven that it is dead, there is always hope. The very first thing you do want to do is to properly clean your phone. Follow this guide to properly clean your phone. While you clean your logic board, check it very carefully for any burned or missing components. You can also post an image on here and may be we can help you with that. They will have to be high res pics. My concern at this time is the statement that "the interior got short circuited." I would definitely double check on that. Sure it's entirely possible, but check on it anyway. Also, it may help if you have a multimeter and know how to use it, or know someone that does. After all that, replace the battery. Hope this helps, good luck.

Water damage is very expensive. You may need to replace every component of the phone. For future reference, turn off your phone immediately after contact with water and do not turn it back on. Put it in a bag of rice ASAP, and don't take it out for at least 48 hours.

Unfortunately you ran out of time to revive your phone, especially when it was in a swimming pool. The chlorine in the water will corrode (it's like rusting) all the components on both a visible and microscopic level.

Besides that, the battery is also damaged.

In other words, you're SOL.
