Touchscreen is not working

I replaced the screen and home button cable on my ipad and the power was not off at the time. The touch screen and home button are not working, does the ipad have to be restarted before it will recognize the new parts? if so how do I restart it when the touch screen is not working.

Two possible situations:

1) The digitizer cable is not seated properly

2) The screen is defective

Two possible solutions:

1) Reseat the cables

2) Contact who you purchased the screen from (I hope it wasn't us) and get a replacement

I bought the Screen from this website. So the ipad does not have to reboot to recognize the new parts. I did take it back apart and reseated the cables and it did not make a difference.

I had to reseat the digitizer cables three time before mine would work. Push the cables in farther than the marked lines, which is farther than the original cables were installed. Works great now.

My IPAD 4 screen got cracked but was still working fine, I decided to replace the digi myself and ordered a new one from Amazon.ca, after taking my time and being very careful following a youtube repair video I put the new screen on and tried a dry run without attaching the adhesive and only half the touch screen would work, I figured it was a defective screen. I got a replacement from the supplier and it is now doing the same thing, any ideas on what else it could be? I have reset, reboot, started as new but still only half the screen is responsive.

Only one of you digitizer connectors is latched. For sure. If latch is weak, slide in a thin strip of plastic on top of flex

Make sure you push the flex cable into the zif connector as far as it will go. The white indicator line should not be visible.

Thats what worked for me.
