Will not power on.
My Dell Studio 14z sat dormant for 5-6 months with the battery connected. The battery is now dead, but the system used to power on without the battery and now it will not power on at all. I have tried removing the battery and power cord and pressing the power button for 30 seconds. I took the unit apart and did some basic continuity checking of connections and didn't see anything amiss. Has anybody resolved a situation like this? Or do I just need to give up on the laptop?
I have also tried several power bricks and none of them power up the system. They work fine on another dell laptop, though.

Do you get status LED's with the charger plugged in with/without battery? (ie Charge light / HDD light etc)
Have you tried starting the system with 1/2/0 RAM sticks installed?
If you are able to take the laptop apart, check all connections (again), but pay special attention to the motherboard. Look for bad capacitors (the cylindrical objects that are flat at the top, they are are popped up and bulging they are dead.) which are common with power issues.

No LED lit. With battery in there is an LED that is suppsed to indicate charging but it does not light up. I have only 1 memory module. Have tried with it removed. Didn't see any of the "barrel" type caps you are talking about...Nothing looks burned or misshapen.

So got a new coin cell battery and installed it into the laptop. No change in behavior. Still shows now sign of life.
