Replaced screen, now it's not turning on. What did I do wrong?

My screen was cracked to smithereens but the iphone was still powering up and the touch screen still worked (it just shed little pieces of glass). Now I replaced the screen, following the directions, and the iphone won't turn on. What should I check? How can I tell if the screen was defective or if I made a mistake?

Thank you!

Reanna the hard reset that Jamie is telling you to do is a good idea to start out, and you should hold the buttons for more like 30 seconds, if nothing happens then I would take the back off the phone and make sure the battery is connected properly, if all is well with that, then I would plug it into a charger and see if that makes it power on, if that doesn't work open Itunes on your pc and plug the phone into it and see if its recognized, if it doesn't the next thing would be to put it in dfu mode while its plugged in and try for a restore, here is how, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSQgy-ZHr..., that will keep you busy and hopefully one of them will work, keep me posted, good luck. Update

Reanna you might have a tiny piece of glass behind the home button just for idea's, it's hard to see all of them without magnification, if you do teardown your phone I recommend removing the 2 sided adhesive on the mid-frame around the home button and around the earspeaker and front camera, by doing that you will remove all glass and debris.

I tried the 30 hard reset, no results. I'm about to check on the battery connection, but I just compared the phone to another apple device and I think the home button isn't right -- it seems recessed and hard to press compared to a functioning device. I wonder if that means I need to take it all the way apart again and check on whatever is behind that button?

The button is obviously part of the original phone, not the replacement screen, so that's a little confusing.

It worked!

I think you were right that some glass on the adhesive, or maybe under the home button, was interfering. I replaced the adhesive and swept the area out all is now working great.

Thank you so much for your help!!

Hard reset worked awesome. I spent three hours assembling and dissembling this wicked device only to discover I had it right the first time and needed to do a reset! Cheers for the info! You saved my sanity!

Hard reset worked, had to hold the round home button and the button on top right corner for like 30 seconds while plugged with a charger

You did nothing wrong instead you forgot to do something! Just hold down home and power together until you get to apple logo. If you get a white screen just hold down home and power again.

For how long? I did that for 10 full seconds and got no response. I will try it again, but assuming that doesn't work, any other suggestions?

I read this: iPhone won't power on after repair. and decided to hook the phone up to my computer. It was in restore mode and would not come out. I clicked the Restore button in iTunes and it went through the process and the phone is now working fine!

Same problem here. I took the screen off and examined it under an electronic microscope and discovered the the plug, although looks fine to the naked eyes is actually fractured and needs to be sent back.

I just changed my 5s screen/digitizer, and battery. It was working fine and charging really well. I placed the back and front of the phone back together and put the 2 screws back in at the bottom and then the phone wouldn't come on.

I put the charging cord back in and the apple logo comes up, stays on about 2 minutes, blinks out, and shows the logo again but won't boot up any further. I tried hard restart, I don't think for 30 sec, but it still won't boot. I've taken the phone apart again and rechecked connections but still won't react

I had the same problem. I installed back the damaged screen, charged up to some 30%, then I installed the new screen and my phone started up.
