My psp has been sitting for over a year. I took it to a used game store and tried several different chargers and nothing. Not even the charge light came on. It will turn on if you put a battery in it that has a charge but if you try to charge it still nothing happens.

Austin Dorson, First thing I'd do is to replace the battery. It is definitely no longer holding a charge. Always look for the easy stuff first :) and than make sure that the battery makes good contact. If I remember right the PSP has fuses on the MB. It has 2 fuses (LD) One marked TB. The other is located beside the power cable disconnect. Of course to fix it you will have to open it up and get to them. Use these guides to work on your PSP and check the fuses with a multimeter for continuity. Check on here as well as herefor more info. Hope this helps, good luck.

Would the power fuse have a TD on it? my motherboard is TA-090
Yes, it could have a TD on it. check for continuity with a multimeter.
Thank you! Bought a used PSP that had the same symptoms and that was exactly the problem. Stuck a blob of solder over the affected fuse and now the unit turns on (obviously not recommended but at least I know it works)
Hi, to anyone who actually performed this repair, could you help me? I am new to soldering but have an experienced friend, I wanted to know if a blob would be fine or if I should try bridging it with a wire instead.

No sarcasm I swear but your a genius, my psp must have fallen off the shelf or something because it wouldn't charge until I read this. Took out the battery put the charge cord in and put in the battery.

@Ruby Rose Channel#358/2 hello ruby so did you like removed battery and charging, keep the charging power on then slot in the battery? Does it hurt ur psp? Because I found another method where PSP working with power supply but functioning batteries not detected
play for 1 hour turn off then slot in battery... I dont know which method would cause less damage to psp. so asking here.

I have a similar problem, I bought a psp used, bought a new battery and it was working fine, but then it randomly shut off and won't turn on or charge even though it had half batter. Can someone help me figure this problem out. Thx

I bought a battery for my PSP and it did the same thing. I had to use a pin to push the battery's contacts closer together to make better contact with the PSP pins. After that, it charged and ran fine.
I bought a psp but within 1 month it's charger broke mysteriously and I bought a new one after 2 years cause I forgot where I put my psp.
The new charger was a little expensive and didn't work the seller said he checked it
What is the problem with it I don't know.
I tried many ways I found online but none helped me
So my psp hasnt been working i plug the charger the orange light appears a few seconds later it randomly the light disappears can you help me

Was this ever solved? Having this exact problem.
I have bought a 3.6V 2400MAH battery. It came fully charged but wouldn’t charge again the next day. It charges for a few seconds before claiming charging complete at 10%

Why does my psp not open, my psp has a cracked battery and i put tape in it so it doesnt fall off, and the door holder for my battery has been cut and i put tape on it too so it doesnt fall off, and when i charge it it just blinks the charging light

My psp was fine then it shuts off due to the battery that was flat. did not want to charge at all. I did buy a new battery eand charger cable but still does not want to chrage
