Digitizer cable control circuit & home button cable need to be solder?

I know that not many people have attempted this repair yet or this question would abound. Sure, there are many videos and tear-downs showing how the digitizer is removed from the iPad Mini, but how do you attach the digitizer control circuit (which is the component that actually connects to the logic board) to the digitizer cable, and how do you attach the home button cable to the new digitizer cable? Or, for that matter, how do you detach the original digitizer cable and home button cable from the broken digitizer? It appears to me that it can only be performed using hot air soldering procedures. Would someone smarter than I please enlighten me. I'll be honest, I've performed dozens and dozens of digitizer replacements on every model of Apple device heretofore in my repair shop, but this is truly beginning to scare me. Either the new digitizers should come with both the home button and the digitizer control circuit pre-installed, or the iPad Mini digitizer is nigh-on irreplaceable. Thank you to anyone who may be able to save me from my nightmare.

The video link no longer works. Has anyone done this and made a video? It seems ridiculous that the digitizer is being sold without the connector. I'm up for a challenge but this procedure may be above my level and I have already spent $80+ on the fix. Help!

i have just fixed one ipad mini with broken glass. part i had did not come with digitizer and home button controllers. i had to solder them. you will need soldering skills to proceede with this job, otherwise look for preassembled parts.

Vlad

I believe you correct. Until the home button and control circuit comes with the front panel the repair isn't really cost effective.

I've been able to complete this repair job no problem. It definitely isn't an easy task for a DIY'er. This should increase business in the retail repair market. The iPad 4 also has a ridiculous tethered home button.

I've already done 4 ipad minis!!

Don't attempt the repair unless you're highly skilled and a good tech. They're extremely difficult to fix - mainly because of the soldering but they're not too bad for experienced techs.

Ok here's the deal. This repair is NOT cost effective unless you KNOW how to micro-solder well. I took in an iPad mini for repair not realizing I was going to have to micro-solder the old IC Chip to the new digitizer. I freaked after I tore out the shattered dig.

I found these guys in Bethlehem, PA - iMobileRescue. These guys are rock stars! I shipped that thing from Mississippi, and they had the new glass soldered, sealed in, and shipped back within the next week. Saved me from buying a new iPad mini.

Check them out. Don't hesitate to contact them and ask questions - I did and I had answers within a few hours.

Typically only repair facilities that has high degree of experience and soldering skills would even attempt this repair. due to the fact that the parts are expensive and one miss solder can ruin the screen. http://www.iPadminirepairhouston.com a http://www.MorizGamersFix.com company has many years of repair experience and can deliver first class result.

I welcome anyone with questions regarding this type of repair.

one advice i can give is to make sure you reflow (putting a thin layer of solder, creating a micro dome on each pad) the solder pad on the ic chip first. Then you align the ribbon cable to solder it. please feel free to email your questions to support@morizgamersfix.com for any assistance... GOOD LUCK GUYS

Does anyone know if this part will work? I think everything is there already, so it shouldn't require any soldering. Just a swap out. Assuming it's all there of course. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
