How do I remove the Touch Screen/ Bezel without breaking it?

I have viewed many videos and read lots of text but I still do not see how I can get the touch screen off and the plastic bezel without breaking them.

I have gone thru a handful of plastic tools that are included with the touch screen and have only succeeded in cutting the edge on the tool off.

I finally got a broken touch screen off by breaking it more. But now I have a brand new touch screen on my second gen and I need to remove it to fix a home button issue.

Is there anyone out there that has successfully removed a touch screen with out breaking it, that can offer some help?

Thanks in advance.

Update

I finally got mine off with out damaging it. Well maybe the O ring is a little scuffed on the one very difficult latch but otherwise very reusable. Most of what I learned has been posted on the repair tutorial page.

I like to use guitar picks and a metal spudger, but you have to be REALLY careful with the spudger so you don't put pressure on the LCD screen and break that. Somebody else on here also suggested just using your fingernail to start prying it up at the corner. Basically just work slowly and be very aware of ware the latches are so you can disconnect them. It's quite tricky though.

Fingernail for the win! If you have strong enough nails, you can definitely get it started this way.

If you do use the flathead make sure to insert between the metal frame and rubber gasket, and not touching the glass at all. Once the metal touches the glass it's *crack* (think comic book "pow" type here).

I find the small metal spudger from ifixit to work best. No nicks, bends, etc. perfect open almost every time.

Some frames will break and some glass will break. It's just the nature of this repair. It is not unreasonable to get in without breaking 95% of time with some practice (although a good level would be any not broken - this is not easy so don't get down)

I've broken my share of glass (4 to be honest) and today I was able to remove one without breakage. I have used the plastic tools and have broken those, the trick there is use to use the plastic tool coming in from the outside of the IPOD instead of from over the IPOD.

I didn't have one of the plastic tools today so I used an utility knife blade with the sharp blade covered with a guard (paper and scotch tape) and the back side inserted into the IPOD. I also use a suction cup (the kind used in bathrooms to hold washcloths and such) to keep the glass from sinking back down.

Go REEEAAALLL slow and be careful not to break that LCD.

First, you have to take off the battery right away. And then you can try to separate the back cover using a screwdriver and some other repair tools.
