LCD display touch non responsive

The LCD display is non responsive to touch, i can not set anything on the menu, also when facing the display to the front the image no longer corrects itself ie image is upside down. another thing that i have noticed is the cam does not warn if the lens cover is on!

please help me here as i am stuffed with my videos if i can not sort it out. could it just be a cable?
