iPhone has no service after screen replacement

recently I have been repairing a few iphone 4's and have came across this problem twice now.

after replacing a screen the phone loses all service

the blue part that is often damaged seems to be fine but still get no service. could it be a problem with the gold metal but at the top of the phone? how should this sit?

Do you have the new IOS6 update???

If so, just use another phone to call your mobile. Not sure why this works but i haved now repaired 6 4s with this new update and after i repaired them they all had the searching come up, now i just call the number and it kinda like resets the reception.

Set the date and time manually. If you take out the battery on the iPhone (iOS 6.xx) the date will be 1970.. :p

When you have set the date and time, remove the sim card and put it back in.. This should work :)

(you kan also connect the phone to the WiFi to automatically set date and time. Do the same with the sim card, when the time is right :) )

I curious as to the positioning of this gold metal piece also as I am having similar issues. I have a signal but only in strog areas and 3g and wifi are bouncing on and off effecting the signal. Im curious as i sat this piece in as i believe is correct but cant get a pic of it anywhere. They say there could be some grease on the attenna cable so might try cleaning this with alchol

I also had "no service" after repairing the screen on an IPhone 4S with IOS 6.01. As stated the date and time will be 1970... After hours of headache I decided to try setting the time manually as mentioned by Alex, power off/on the phone and enter the Sim pin code again. I had low expectations, but it actually solved the problem. Afterwards, you can switch back to automatic date and time again.

I do not understand why people assume a problem is software when it has just had a hardware repair done on it. I would be willing to bet the antenna is unplugged or needs reseating.

It's an IOS6 issue. Make a full restore and you'll get the signal back after initializing it!
