Game Freeze shortly after PlayStation logo or in opening video

I have an original Playstation SCPH-1001.

I have tried Final Fantasy VIII and Twsited Metal III.

About the time it gets to the PS logo or shortly after it freezes.

Also sometimes it comes up and says to insert Official Playstation Game.

I assume its the CD-Drive but would like for someone to confirm.

UPDATE: I tried a known working drive same issue...
