Can I install iPad 3G digitizer in iPad Wifi?

Hi,

I am trying to replace broken iPad digitizer. I ordered the part from Amazon (iPad Digitizer with mid frame for Wifi only iPad). The seller ended up sending me the 3G version. I asked for an exchange but he claims that I can just cut the 3G antenna cable off and it will work without any problem. Says it's cross compatible. Is that true? Should I give it a go or insist on exchange/return?
