LCD replacing, various types?

My LCD screen starts to fade white while using my macbook, tilting the LCD helps the screen. At first I thought it was an issue with the LVDS cable but turns out after changing that out I still have the issue.

Now my sign points to LCD itself, I have hooked the macbook up to an external monitor and it was working fine. The mac itself does not freeze but is still fully functioning while the fading is occuring.

After looking at LCD screens on ebay, some list them as LCD, LED, and different type of backlight...

My question is what exactly is my screen? I have no idea what type of backlight it has. Also some ads state "no inverter" what exactly is the inverter part? The PCB board on the lower portion that the connector attaches to?

One last thing, why is there such a great variance between costs of these LCD screens? On here the screen is $130 while on ebay their between $50-$80??

Your ID seems off I don't see any 2009 6,1 Macbooks, the 6,1's are mid 2010 - follow the ID your Mac to help us help you.

  • MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.53 17" Mid-2010 MacBookPro6,1 1
  • MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.66 17" Mid-2010 MacBookPro6,1 1
  • MacBook Pro "Core i7" 2.8 17" Mid-2010 MacBookPro6,1

With LED display technology, there is no inverter board. A single cable provides the data and power to the display.

Once you get the back off your display you'll find a manufacturers part number to help you locate a compatible replacement.

Thank you for the info.

What exactly would the inverter be on these things? Is that the PCB on the lower bottom where the LVDS cable connects to? I am coming across ADS on ebay that state "inverter not included".

Is there a difference between these ebay LCD screens and the $400 ones?
