Perhaps the driver is corrupted. I am not sure what you mean by "When I identify my graphics card. . . ".

You could try cleaning all traces of the graphics drivers using

You must run it in safe mode but the software will help you with this. DO read their instructions to save grief.

When you reboot Windows will install its generic, no-frills graphics driver from that point you can fresh install the latest graphics drivers.

I have sovled many a strange graphics card problem, with all makes of GPU's, with this program. Drivers and settings can get corrupted by unexpected shut downs, interupted installations, etc.
