Internal microphones only produce noise

I did a "cowboy" job on this soon after I got it to add a larger SSD. Afterward I noticed that the internal mics only produce loud white noise. I don't know if they worked ''before'' I voided the warranty (I don't recall trying to use them). Just wondering if there's something obvious I did to break them when I cracked the lid.
