Supleh2, yes, it is possible that this is the reason for the LED not lighting up. It is possible that you have some wire on the outlet side that is either loose or bare and creating a short circuit. You can try and expose the wire further and use a multi/voltmeter to see what the output is. I would expose the wire further, cut it back , and either solder the old connector on it, or get a new connector.
