After doing a little research I finally gave to try to complete software restore.

Went to IPSW.me and downloaded the latest IOS 11.2.5. and did a complete restore.

Went to www.IPSW.me and downloaded the latest IOS 11.2.5 ipsw file and did a complete restore using iTunes
And voila the touch id started working fine again!!!
