How to unlock my disabled 1st generation iPod touch without iTunes?

I have a first generation iPod touch, I can not connect to iTunes (because my laptop is unable to download the current version of iTunes (12), I have tried to update my computer to windows 7 but that has proven fruitless) I have tried holding the wake/sleep button while holding the home button and waiting for the apple logo to appear. I was under the impression that those actions would reset my iPod and allow me access, but sadly that is not the case. I have also followed the steps to put my iPod into DFU mode but nothing happened. I feel like am out of options... Please help
