Why is my battery discharging overnight..? Camera is in off position,

My camera works just great,,,,except, I MUST remove the battery after use, recharge it and NOT put it back in the camera until I am ready to take pictures.

My Sanyo VPC E1090 camera works just great,,,,except, I MUST remove the battery after use, recharge it and NOT put it back in the camera until I am ready to take pictures.
If I leave the battery in the camera, it is dead overnight. Leave it out of the camera, and the battery maintains charge for weeks ????
