Have you ever done this kind of work before if not this is not the job to start with . However if you do have some idea what your getting into expect a 10+ hr job. Before starting look at your oil and determine what needs to be done. If your oil is a chocolate brown color you have a very large task ahead. this means the engine has Preston in the oil and that means bearings need to be replaced or doing the job will all be for nothing once you through a bearing from the bottom end . Get a Chilton book or a Haynes to help with the teardown they will also help with torquing spec on reassembly .Things to keep in mind as you tear down

1 .keep parts in order with bolts so you dont have to figure out were that bolt goes later.

2 .label connectors so you remember were they hook back in. Masking tape and a sharpy are your friends. 3.Keep it clean you dont want preston getting into the bottom end clean off all the old gasket material and dont score your heads

4. Make sure the heads arn't warped. take them to a machine shop and have them decked if they are.

5. Take your time and make sure your doing things right and make sure you get the right torques when it all goes back together

6. when your all done and your cars fixed make sure you change you oil.

7. Change your coolant regularly . This is what killed the gasket in the first place

hope this helps and good luck
