Before plugging in AC adaptor forgot to turn off camera

I want to continue to use my mini DV camera, but I accidentally broke it by forgetting to turn off the camera before plugging in AC adaptor.  This blew something inside the camera as it will not work with the standard battery either.

Please let me know if there is something in the panel inside that I can replace to remedy the problem.
