Is it the DMD chip or the DMD board?

Texto:

It seems my DMD chip on my Acer h5360 DLP projector is failing(dead pixels shoving as white spots all over) and I'm considering ordering a new DMD chip from some Chinese shop.

I've already got a DMD board lying around because I first thought that was the problem - after taking the projector apart though I could clearly see the faulty mirrors on the DMD chip so I just put it back together with the same board.

But now I'm thinking - could it be the mirrors are simply stuck because of the bad board and moving the chip to the new board could fix it after all?
