Nintendo Switch: Can I diagnose No TV output using multimeter?

Hi! I have bought a nintendo switch with broken TV output. I was hoping it might be the dock, but the dock is fine. I have also tried different dock and still nothing. I also tried all the tips on the internet, cleaned everything, yada yada and it is probably a hardware issue. The USB port on switch also looks fine with all pins intact I have looked at the USB-C part of the motherboard with descriptions what is what but I am not really sure what can I do at home to narrow the issue. I currently do not have the funds to send it to a repair and i thought I might be able to figure it out. I have pretty decent soldering skills, although no tools for hot air soldering. I might be able to get an oscilloscope. Do you please have any tips for what can I check for continuity etc, or some guide on the internet that I might have overlooked? Many thanks in advance.

Nintendo Switch: Nintendo Switch charging port solder repair

Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem I've got, I've bought a broken switch in the hopes of repairing it and selling it on. I've taken it apart and found the charging port pins aren't connected to the motherboard so it's not taking charge to the battery. It seems to just be the external pins though not the internal ones. So my issue is that the pins don't reach the little spots of solder on the motherboard so I'm wondering if I could put my own solder in and if the pins need to be individually connected to the mother board or if I could put one line of solder in and connect them all to the motherboard? Hoping someone with more experience will know, any help is appreciated and feel free to ask any questions about it. Thanks in advance

Nintendo Switch: Nintendo Switch won't charge

Hi, my son’s Switch won’t turn on or charge. I replaced the battery, and in doing so, damaged the SD card reader, so I replaced that as well. Since the new battery came with some charge, I can be sure it is not a display issue, as the display worked, but on connecting the Switch to the official charger (directly - no dock) there was no indication that it was charging. I have attempted to charge it over several days with no effect.

Other than the battery, what other replaceable points of failure could there be? And how would I best test them to isolate the issue?

So the screws on the back of my switch are stripped, I have the right screwdrivers and everything, but I accidentally used the wrong ones a few years ago. My switch is stuck on the boot logo screen, Ive tried everything that doesnt involve opening the switch up, but none of those worked. So now Im going to try out some methods that involve opening the switch. One problem. 2 of the screws are stripped, 1 is missing, and 1 is fine. Ive tried rubber bands, but I think Im doing it wrong, so Im not too sure what to do now, anyone know what I should do?

Nintendo Switch: Touch screen and game card reader stopped workin after fan replacement

Hi all. I finished replacing my dying fan on my switch with parts from this site, and now suddenly my touchscreen stopped working and I can’t read any game cards. It says there’s a card read error and to reinsert each time. Touch screen doesn’t respond to touch at all. I rechecked everything is connected properly and have been scouring reddit and google for a few weeks trying to figure this out. What do I need to replace? Digitizer? Card reader? Mother board? A different fan? I threw away the old one. This is so weird and frustrating cause I’m out of warranty.

Nintendo Switch: Nintendo Switch stuck on boot-logo - suggestions?

Hi,

Symptoms:

I have a fairly new Nintendo Switch that is stuck at the Switch boot-logo wich will stay there forever. Charging is normal and it will charge at 15V and around .8 A.

When turning off it has like a short cracking sound coming from it. Just like a short smack or tick (it’s fairly noticable).

It will not boot into safe-mode or into recovery-mode.

Hardware:

Inside it looks fine, but its a different board than what I’m used to, so the layout and IC’s are a little bit different from the others. It reads HAD-CPU-01

All normal fault zones like the charging IC and display IC checks out ok with no shorted capacitors or anything out of the ordinary…

But when I check around this place, on the bottom side from the CPU there is 3 shorted capacitors nearby. I guess it should not be like this..? Can someone check if these actually short to ground on both sides? (I ask because some places they should, but since I not have a known good board, I am not sure what they should read.

Thanks for answers.

The capacitors marked in red are the ones that shows short to ground-plane on both sides.

I had been using it normally, until these very fine vertical black lines appeared all over the screen.
Nintendo Switch: How to hold replaced Switch 1 battery in place?

I had my Switch 1 battery replaced in January 2026. A few weeks ago I noticed what sounded like something being knocked around inside my Switch whenever I moved it. I was recently able to open the Switch again and confirmed that the adhesive strip attached to the battery has failed, leading to the battery becoming unsecured.

Aside from buying a new adhesive strip, is there anything that can be done to secure the battery in place? I've seen some switch batteries have some foam attached to them for this purpose, but mine doesn't. Is it possible to buy something similar to keep it in place?

The battery itself seems healthy, so I'd like to avoid buying another battery if possible.
