Introducción
Esta guía realiza un desmontaje completo de un HP Elitebook 840 G1, con excepción de la pantalla LCD.
Qué necesitas

Debes poder ver el pestillo y los tornillos para desarmarla.

La cubierta inferior se deslizará hacia la parte inferior de la imagen y podrá quitarse.

Uno de los pestillos tiene resorte y deberás mantenerlo en la posición desbloqueada.

El HDD se sujeta con cuatro tornillos Philips, mientras que el módulo de RAM tiene dos brazos con resorte.
-
Los brazos con resorte de la RAM solo deben empujarse hacia afuera del módulo de RAM y el módulo se levantará y podrá deslizarse hacia afuera.

Los dos círculos rojos indican dónde están enchufadas las antenas. Simplemente se levantan.

La tarjeta queda sujeta por un solo tornillo.

También hay un tornillo en la esquina inferior derecha, que no aparece en la imagen.

Los dos tornillos tienen resorte y no saldrán del todo. Solo hay que aflojarlos.

Hay un espacio junto al ventilador de la unidad (marcado con un círculo rojo) lo suficientemente grande como para que un destornillador suelte el teclado. Simplemente presiona hacia abajo.

Puedes tener más éxito si abre la unidad y la colocas de lado antes de soltar el teclado.

Debes soltar el borde superior y deslizar el teclado hacia arriba.

El cable de la izquierda se puede quitar del teclado o de la placa base.

Los cables planos se sujetan a sus conectores mediante un pequeño pestillo de plástico. Los pestillos se levantan y el cable se desliza hacia afuera.

Hay uno a la izquierda y otro a la derecha. Ambos se muestran parcialmente, pero se cortaron de la imagen durante el recorte.

Son tornillos de cabeza Philips y están marcados con un círculo rojo.

Me resulta más fácil levantarla desde la parte inferior izquierda.

Si estás reparando una máquina dañada por el usuario, este sería un buen lugar para buscar daños por derrames.
-
Notarás que la parte superior de esta unidad tiene daños por derrames en la placa base, los altavoces y la cubierta superior.
-

Recomiendo quitar la cinta y los protectores de plástico (marcados con un círculo en la parte inferior) y guardarlos en un lugar seguro. La cinta no es fácil de reemplazar si está dañada o doblada.

El enchufe en la parte superior izquierda es en realidad para los parlantes, no para la tarjeta inalámbrica, pero sirve para encajar los cables inalámbricos en su guía de plástico.

El ventilador también está sujeto por un tornillo en la parte inferior derecha. Este tornillo se cortó parcialmente en la imagen.

Paso 17 Quita el disipador de calor y destraba el extremo izquierdo del último cable plano restante.

No es necesario quitar por completo el cable plano. Solo se necesita el lado izquierdo para sacar la placa base.

Si hay alguna resistencia, debes volver a verificar que se hayan quitado o desconectado todos los cables y tornillos.

El cable de la parte inferior izquierda va a un escáner de huellas dactilares, mientras que los cables de la derecha pertenecen al lector SC de la unidad.

La placa de alimentación de la parte superior izquierda también es extraíble, pero normalmente no es necesario reemplazarla, y las dos bisagras se pueden aflojar para sacar el conjunto de LCD de esta cubierta superior.

Para volver a ensamblar tu dispositivo, sigue estas instrucciones en orden inverso.

Hi, thank you for this guide !
I successfully managed in disassembling my Elitebook 840 and change the fan.
-However-, when reassembling it, I was surprised to see that my touchpad doesn't work anymore (but the mouse nipple works perfectly). I don't really understand because I didn't disconnect anything except the keyboard (that is not connected on the same ribbon cables, so...).
I tried to reinitialize it from the Windows panel, but no luck.
Do you have an idea of what could be wrong ?

Is the little orange light lit in the top-right of your touchpad? If so, double-tap on it and the touchpad should re-enable.
If the light isn't lit, that touchpad connects to the board under the battery (right side). You should double-check those cables, and then double-check where that board connects to the systemboard under your keyboard. My bet is that something is loose along that path.

Great guide.
Unfortunately due to my the speed my keyboard popped-off I broke the thin white cable in step 9. I seem to have lost backlit functionality from my keyboard but everything else is working okay. I'm assuming that's what that ribbon does but I could be incorrect. Any idea what that cable does exactly?

I know this is about 9 months too late, but I'm sorry to hear that the cable ripped. They are definitely pretty fragile.
Aside from the backlight, the functionality of the track point might be impacted. I wouldn't expect any other issues, though, so at least the damage is limited in scale.

I wish you had done the screen as well in your tear down, just so people know how easy the screen is to take off. I replaced my screen with a higher resolution a few months ago and it took me all of 15 minutes to do most of that time was just taking off the bezel but once that is off it's only 4 screws and unplugging the connection ribbon. Once you place the new screen and hooked up there is 4 holders so you can turn your computer on before screwing the screen on just to make sure the part is in good working condition.
