Introducción

This guide will help individuals replace the fingerprint reader for the first generation ThinkPad X1 Carbon. It is highly recommended to have the replacement reader ready for installation prior to opening the device.

  1. Unscrew the seven screws located on the back of the device.

  5. Use the plastic opening tool to gently release the ribbon cable attached to the keyboard.

    • You may now place the device off to the side. The rest of the repair takes place on the keyboard tray.

  6. Locate the Fingerprint Reader and metal frame on the left side of the keyboard tray.

  7. Unscrew the two silver screws to remove the metal frame.

  8. Remove the ribbon cable connected to the board.

    • Remove and Replace the Fingerprint Reader board and metal frame.

    • This connection does not have a lock, please pull the ribbon away from the board. Do not attempt to lift the connection.
