Use this guide to repair worn and detached shoe eyelets with common household tools.

Remove the shoelaces and damaged eyelet.

Clean the grommet with an alcohol wipe.

Adjust any parts of the grommet that have dents or folds using tweezers.

Apply rubber cement to the back side of the metal grommet.

Insert the grommet into the eyelet.

Hammer the grommet from the top to secure it into place.

Let adhesive dry with a weighted object placed on top to apply pressure.

Lace shoes again with new metal grommet intact.
