Radiator/thermostat valve repair

    • Fully open the thermostat/valve

    • Undo the screw on the fastening clamp. In this case an older thermostat is shown. Newer models probably have a twist and screw cap and you may not need tools at all.

    • Remove the thermostat head.

    • Put some multipurpose oil onto the little transmission pin.

    • By tapping the pin CAREFULLY with a hammer, you can make it move again.

    • Add some additional lubrication to the pin before screwing the thermostat back on.

    • By pushing the pin in and let it come back out several times using the hammer again, the oil should evenly distribute on the pin, so that in future it is very unlikely, that it is seizing up soon again.

    • That's it! Put the valve/thermostat back on and fix it in place.
