This guide will show you how to remove and replace the lenses of the PlayStation VR Headset. This can be a challenging task, but with a little patience it can be done.
Qué necesitas
-
-
Peel back the rubber covering around the lenses to remove the surrounding plastic eyepieces.
-
-
-
-
Using the tweezers, unplug the three (one black bundled, two multi colored bundled) connector cables from their ports along the circuit board.
Extra info for the PsVR V2 - There are 5 like Crisida says, but each are removed differently than the version one headset. Unlike version one , where clips are pulled up on a pivot, these are all pulled out of their socket via the blue tab attached to the white Ribbon. When putting the headset back togther, you will need to slot these back in.
-
-
-
Using your fingers, lift up on the sides of the black plastic piece holding the circuit board in place.
-
There are small plastic tabs on the side that latch the piece in place that need to be lifted in order to remove it.
-
-
-
Using a hairdryer (or heatlamp), warm the area around the lenses. This will help loosen them for removal.
Can’t say on version one but on version two there is a soft rubber seal around the perimeter of the double lens frame that easily lifts out. I suggest taking this off before applying any heat and removing the lenses. It easily falls out, is easy to damage, and becomes a pest. It fits back in simply as well. Great guide, well done.

Using a glass cloth (or any cloth with soft fibers), carefully press on the lenses until they pop out of place.
Where do you get replacement lenses from?
Well, I’m confident that everyone (including myself) have asked the same question about replacement lenses, or have made snarky comments (Also me) about Sony not making them available at all.
After this many years and considering that the controllers for the Quest simply don’t and will never work for me as well as the PS4 ones. In addition to my significant enjoyment of my PlayStation.
I have decided to try the various lense repair/buffing techniques that I have found online for various super sensitive scenarios like cameras or microscopes etc. Reader take heed. I intend to try them on various materials to see if I can successfully do it to the lenses that my glasses scratched in my PS4 headset.
At that point I sincerely look forward to doing this entire tear down.
So, way to go to the folks that made and provided it. I am personally a “ifixit” fanatic and truly appreciate what you have accomplished here.
Many many thanks and apologies for any previous snarky nonsense.

Wow..this looks a lot harder than it should be. I bought my PSVR used and the lenses are kinda scuffed up, like the previous owner cleaned them with something not perfectly soft. I was hoping they’d come out easily from the front, but I guess that’s not the case. Thanks for the immensely difficult guide!
Yep, where to buy the lenses?
Where can i buy new lenses for the PSVR?
Lenses…..buy…..where…..
Is it even possible to by new lenses.
Or someone has an idea which kind of store could produce replacement lenses.
Sony is obviously not interessted of the comfort of glasses wearing customers. It’s a pitty
Wait for it… Hey so I thought it would be pretty cool if u guys could tell us where we could buy a lens.
Where to buy?
I did it twice! very good instructions. I’m a newbie at taking things apart. I just took pics of each step/screws
What glue do you use to re-attach lens in place? do you only need to heat again and just attached using the existing glue?
FYI to those that wear glasses, Sony crests Prescription lenses for the VR, but you gotta buy a whole Vr headset, PLUS the lenses, but they do make em.. give them your RX from eye Dr, and pay some amount extra and you got lenses you don’t need glasses with. Real $@$* but not cheap I’m sure.
I wish to buy new lenses.. Nabb86@gmail.com
Its pretty poor to show how to replace the lenses if its not even possible
Same Problem. Where to buy lenses?
Sooo……I was just wondering….

Could take the time…..
Out of their busy schedules….
AND TELL US / INFORM US/ EMAIL TO US / whisper to us…..
THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION…..
Where can I buy some PSVR replacement lenses?
JUST WONDERING LMAO!!
Well folks. It wasn't stated properly in this post what part is considered to be the difficult part of the lens replacement; it should go:
1. Disassemble psvr headset.
2. Difficult step: Find psvr lens replacements.
3. Realize that step 2 actually means impossible step.
4. Go kick rocks!
NOTE: you can’t buy lenses. But you can buy a PSVR that’s not working properly with “good lenses” and swap the good lenses from the non-working PSVR with the one that has bad lenses. Meaning, you’ll have to take apart two PSVRs. Or simply pay $100 for Sony to fix the lenses for you on an “Out of Warranty repair”. Cheers!
