Introducción

This guide shows how to replace a broken retainer clip (the plastic piece that covers the battery and XD card slot).

  1. Flip camera so you are looking at the bottom.

  2. Lift open retainer clip by sliding the clip to the left and letting the clip pop up.

    • Lift the rubber plate exposing the ports beneath.

  6. Unscrew the 2 screws next to the USB and AC ports.

  7. Use a flathead screwdriver or another flat opening tool to pry the faceplate from the whole device.

  8. Pull off the faceplate to reveal the inside of the camera.

    • Be careful of the connector that goes from the faceplate to the motherboard . Disconnecting this line will cause the camera not not power on through the on/off switch anymore.

  9. Orient the camera as shown, with the bottom facing up.

    • Open the retainer clip, by using your finger to push down and slide to the left.

    • The clip should pop open.

  10. Hold the retainer clip down (without re-latching it).

    • Use a flathead screwdriver to start to pry out the pin holding the retainer clip's spring to the camera.

  11. Use tweezers to continue to remove the pin.

  12. When it feels loose, pull the pin all the way out with your fingers.

  13. Once the pin comes out, the retainer clip, spring, and pin will no longer be attached to the rest of the camera.
