  2. Gently open the back case by prying along the edge of the cover, starting at a corner of the phone and circling around the phone using a plastic opening tool. The opening process may take a few minutes. The plastic will make a light snapping noise as the back cover separates from the rest of the phone. The opening process may take a few minutes. I have made some rearrangement at this guide:

It more logic to remove the tray before removing the screws.

I have used some pictures from the teardown to clarify, particularly for showing the inside of the Nexus 4 showing the battery installed. The original picture did not show the battery. I have also made better reference to the tools.

I ordered the back case using the provided link at etradesupply.com, and noticed it is not an original part: the wireless charging does not work at all (the coil has a much higher resistance than the original one). After insisting, they sent me another one, which gave the same result. Better avoid buying there if you expect original working products...

What about the buttons and the NFC? I can buy a back cover with NFC included, but most seem to not have the buttons. Is it easy to remove the ones from the old cover and install them in the new cover?
