    • Work the opening picks around the perimeter until the two halves disengage from each other.

    • Don't completely separate as the display ribbon cable still connects the two.

So I don’t remove the MLB?

When re assembling the press fit connector will not stay in place when trying the shut the case, it seems too short.

Is there a nack or trick to doing this please?

    • There may be a glue strip between the battery and the outside case. Gently pry the case open and use the flat end of a spudger to separate the glue strip.

Thanks guys. My kindle had the stub of a mini plug broken off in it. Had it so that I could plug devices into my stereo and after many plug-ins of different devices some how the tip was cracked, should have realized it, the plug had gotten intermittent but I kept using it(25 foot cord mini-plug to RCA plugs). I use this instruction guide get socket assembly out, but still had to carve the socket body on the side a bit to get a my smallest pair of needle nose in to grasp and pull plug tip out. It was not easy, but couldn’t have gotten to that point without this guide. Reassembled and all works well, thanks again.

I really wanted to fix this Kindle, had received it as a drawing prize from alumni association when I graduated from Purdue Fort Wayne a few years ago.

Love your site!

Um by the way, in case anybody accidentally separates the cable(the tape will hold in place, but the SMD multi-pin male to female connector can become dislodged easily(for me anyway). Don’t panic, the plug will firmly snap back into place, if you line it up fairly close and apply slight downward pressure. you’ll have to have very good vision or some optics to see the socket/header clearly.

Didn’t realize on my first post that Blake had written this, thanks a lot Blake!
