Trim off any loose strings or threads attached to the ends of the strap and tote bag body.

Use a ruler to measure the distance from the end of an attached strap to the edge of the bag.

This mark is where you want to start sewing your strap.

Cut a piece of thread that is about 22–24 inches in length.
Pull the thread through the needle eye until the two ends of the thread are equal.
Double knot the two ends of the thread together.

Begin sewing by weaving the needle down through the strap material and then upwards through the strap material.
Sew half an inch above the bottom edge of the tote bag strap in a straight line all the way across to the other end of the strap.
Sew about 2-3 lines with the thread. You may add more or less depending on how much strength you think it will need.
Stitches should be about 1-2 mm apart.
When sewing through the tote bag material, be careful of finger tips since needle is sharp.
