If your notebook's spiral coil is bent, don't toss it out! With a few tools, you can reshape the coil and have your notebook back in good shape, while still being functional with the use of this guide. If the holes of your notebook cover are torn, reinforce the holes with hole reinforcement stickers.

Overtime, a notebook's coil can become bent from wear and use. When this damage occurs, you can repair the coil through a relatively simple process that most people can accomplish at home. This will require the following tools: a plier, scissors, and reinforcement stickers, which you might already have.

Use pliers to reshape the bent coil into a rounded ring shape, as close as possible to its original state.
The reshaped coil does not have to be in a perfect circular shape, just round enough so the coil can be twisted off the notebook later.

Given that both ends of the coil are clasped, unravel one of those ends with pliers or by hand, twisting until loose and detached from the end rings so that the coil can be twisted off the notebook later.
Spiral coils can be sharp on both ends so remove the spiral coil with extra care.

Twist the coil until the coil has been removed from the notebook.

Repair any torn holes on the notebook cover with reinforcement stickers.

Starting with one of the coil's ends, insert it through a hole on either end of the notebook and twist the coil back into the notebook.
Continue threading the coil through each hole, moving up until the last hole at the top.

After the coil is put back into place, loop both ends of the coil around the last spiral of both ends. Use the pliers to clasp the just-formed loops together to secure it.
