The internal channels of your vacuum can become dirty with use. They do not need to be cleaned often, but doing so can result in quieter operation as well as less dust in the exhaust of the vacuum.

Turn the canister around and locate the latch that secures the outer housing of the canister to the cyclone assembly, and push it upwards.

  • Clean the inside of the cyclone assembly out. Use a cloth to clean; the more dust you can clear the less dust will end up in the exhaust of your vacuum.

  • If you have an air compressor, don't be afraid to use it to blow the dust out of all the nooks and crannies of the cyclone assembly. This is a very sturdy component, and the strong air currents will not damage it.

I just run the water hose through mine then let it dry completely before putting it back together and especially before using.

It's all plastic so it can't hurt anything.

This can be done, but can be problematic if it is not cleaned thoroughly (not just in part you can see but the cyclone chamber that is above the little holes in the graphics) the dust will turn into clay pieces which sound like rocks during operation. If not allowed to fully dry BEFORE reassembly (48 hours) the cyclone chamber will mildew resulting in a bad smell coming from the vac exhaust during operation (possibly damaging the rubber seals as a result) and since the chamber is above the little holes you can see it's difficult to resolve once it's occurred.
