    • Before starting the disassemble, make sure the device is powered off.

    • Unscrew the 4 screws using the PH000 drill bit from the iFixit toolkit.

    • Don't forget to place the screws aside in a safe location, perhaps use a magnetic board to store them. You will need the screws to put the device back together.

    • Use the plastic opening tool from the iFixit toolkit to separate the back from the front of the device. This can be done by wedging the opening tool in the crack where the two sides of the device cover meet.

    • After it is wedged in push down on the exposed end until the two sides come apart.

    • Using the PH000 drill bit from the iFixit toolkit, unscrew the 2 screws that detach the motherboard from the device.

    • Using the plastic opening tool from the iFixit toolkit you will be able to wedge in between the device case and the motherboard. Push down on the exposed end of the device and the motherboard should pop up.

    • Pull the display screen off of the motherboard.

    • Slide the display screen chip out of the motherboard. Insert a new display screen.

My wife's Cowon iAudio U5's screen is displaying all white. When plugged into USB, I can see all the files. Do you think I need to replace the display, as in your instructions here, and where do you get a replacement display? Thanks. Ron.
