If the scanner lid is damaged, the hinges are broken, or the copy board backing is falling off, use this replacement guide to correctly remove the old lid and properly install a new one for the Canon Pixma MG7720 printer.

Open the scanner lid, located on the top of the printer.
With your finger or an iFixit opening tool, push in on both the left and right hinge releases.
Once pushed in, pull evenly upwards on both sides to ensure it doesn't go out at an angle and get stuck.
Fully remove the scanner lid.
