If your Amazon Echo Show's audio is crackly or muffled, you might need to replace the speakers. Follow the prerequisite guide listed at the top--"Opening The Show". This guide tells you how to open up the device so you can access the speakers.

Before starting this guide, gather a T4, T5, and T6 Torx screwdriver. Steps requiring a tweezer can instead be used with your hands carefully.

  1. Using your hands, gently remove the taped-in rubber foot from device.

    • Remove a black 1.5mm T5 screw.

    • Remove three green 1mm T5 screws from the bottom row.

    • After the screws are removed, grip the front panel and remove, using a plastic opening tool if necessary. This will expose the inside of the device.

    • Use tweezers or your hands to carefully disconnect the red wires connecting the speakers to the power supply board.

    • Repeat this step for the other speaker, and lay the front section flat with the facing down.

    • Make sure to ground yourself against a metal object nearby (ex. a metal chair, a door frame) before you touch any circuitry. An accidental static discharge can permanently damage a circuitboard.

    • Use a non-magnetic T-6 screwdriver to unscrew the four 6mm screws on the speaker mount.

    • Repeat this step for the other speaker.

    • Gently lift the speaker needing replacement from the device.
