Introducción

Engineers that designed the 2013 Acura ILX, had to include an air flow sensor. An air flow sensor basically monitors the amount of air that the throttle body receives, and depending on that, sends the right amount of fuel into the motor. For this reason its important for it to function correctly. A little bit of dirt, or some chemicals that got through your air filter, will ruin your sensor. Its important not to touch the electrical components for various reasons. This guide will walk you through the process of replacing this sensor from start to finish, without any problems along the way.

  1. Disconnect the battery terminals by first loosening them with a 10 mm wrench.
    • Disconnect the battery terminals by first loosening them with a 10 mm wrench.

    • Make sure the car is off and the the key is out of the ignition.

  2. Squeeze the clip on the top side of the connector and pull on it. The wiring will disconnect from the sensor.

    • Do not touch the connections with your fingers, it may bend the needles and cause malfunction.

    • With a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the two bolts that hold the sensor.

    • Pull the sensor up slowly to take it off from its casing

    • The sensor might not want to pull out from the first try. If so put a little more pressure into it

    • With a cloth towel clean the surface from any dirt or oil.

    • Try not to have anything fall into the opening where the sensor is positioned.

    • Insert the new sensor and bolt it down using the Philips screw driver.

    • Tighten the bolts so the sensor feels secure.

    • Connect the wires back to the sensor.

    • Double check the wires and the bolts to be snug.

Conclusión

Your car is finally fixed! The new sensor will improve the performance of the vehicle.
