2006-2011 Honda Civic Coupe Low-Beam Headlight Replacement (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011)

Introducción

This guide demonstrates how to replace a halogen low-beam headlight bulb in a 2006-2011 Honda Civic Coupe. You will need a Sylvania SilverStar 9006 ST ZXE halogen headlight bulb, or two if you need to replace both lightbulbs.

Keep in mind that, when handling a halogen lightbulb, you should avoid touching the glass part of the bulb with your hands; The oils can reduce the life of the bulb. It is recommended that you do this replacement on a sunny day to help you see, or have someone hold a flashlight for you if needed.

Prior to starting this repair, turn off your car , make sure it is cool. and put on your emergency break for safety.

Prior to starting this guide, be sure to turn off the car, put the car in park and the emergency break on.
Pull the hood release lever underneath the driver wheel near the lower door hinge to unlock the hood.
You should hear a clicking noise after pulling the lever, and the hood will pop up slightly.

Find the hood-release latch underneath the hood, just above the Honda logo on the grill of your vehicle.
Once you feel this latch, press it upward to fully release the hood and lift it up.

After lifting the hood, take the hood support rod that is lying across the front of the car and insert the free end of the rod into the support rod hole found in the hood.
Propping the hood open is an important safety measure and will also allow light to enter the engine compartment and help you see better.

Turn on the car and with the steering wheel, turn the tires to access the lightbulb.
To access the passenger-side low-beam bulb, turn the wheel fully counterclockwise or if you need to replace the driver-side bulb, turn the wheel fully clockwise.
In this guide, I am replacing the driver-side bulb, so my wheel is turned fully clockwise.
When finished, turn off the vehicle.

Sit next to your tire and look under the body toward the front of the car.
Identify the headlight by looking for a clip connected to a wire such as the white one shown.

Press firmly on the bottom of the center cut-out portion of the clip. This will unlatch the clip from the bulb.
As you push down on the clip to release it, pull the clip off.
The back of the lightbulb will be much farther away than it appears in the images for steps 6-9.

Grab the back of the bulb and rotate it counter-clockwise to the "off" position.
Note that I am not grabbing the back of the bulb in all images in order to prevent the camera view from being obstructed.
Pull the bulb toward you to remove it.

Grab your replacement bulb.
Be sure not to touch the bulb with your hands! This can leave oil residues which reduce the life of the bulb.
Insert your new bulb in reverse-order as you did removing it: Place it into the hole in the "off" position, and rotate it clockwise to the "on" position.
Tug on the back of the bulb to ensure that it has been properly secured.

Reattach the electrical wiring clip by sliding it back onto the rear side of the bulb.
You should hear it click into place when it is secure.

Detach the hood support rod and close the hood of your car.
Turn on your headlights to make sure the new bulb has been properly connected. The bulb in the center of the headlight should be thoroughly lit.
If you would like, turn your car on again to re-adjust your tires back to their normal position. Now, you're done!
