Background Information
Introduced by Sarcos Robotics in 2020, the Guardian XO is a full-body exoskeleton designed primarly for industrial usage. The system features 24 degrees of freedom, a highly responsive “get-out-of-the-way” control system that detects user movements within milliseconds, and safety-first design elements such as passive braking in the event of power loss. It is powered by hot-swappable Lithium-Ion batteries for near-continuous operation and can be donned or removed unassisted in under 30 seconds. Intended for industries such as manufacturing, construction, logistics, oil and gas, aerospace, and defense, the Guardian XO is positioned as a practical solution for addressing the “lift gap” in industrial environments by improving productivity while prioritizing worker safety.

Ergenomic/ Safety Features
- "Get-out-of-the-way" Control System: Uses integrated sensors to reduce latency between operator and exoskeleton movements.
- "Hands-Free" Mode: Suit arms can lock so that an operator can compleate dexterous tasks requiring human involvement while carrying a heavy load.
- Operator Control Interface: User friendly operator control interface for exoskeleton control and system diagnostic notifications.
- Modular Support: Supports user-selectble end effectors.
- Passive Breaking: Redundant hardware and software limit-stops that enable "Passive Breaking" that prevent operator injury in the event of sudden power loss.
- Fall/Stumble Prevention: Responsive control system that allows for quick activation of fall-prevention motions and stulble-prevention.
- Quick Donning/Doffing: Exoskeleton can be donned and doffed unassisted in less than 30 seconds.
- PPE Accommodation: Exoskeleton can accommodate additonal PPE.
