computer quit - dark screen and no more life. Any ideas

nmenon - Contestar

I experienced this too (dark screen, but otherwise laptop seemed to respond just fine… like caps and numlock keys were working, beep sound at boot). Attaching an external monitor gave image (after booting into OS). Re-seating the internal eDP connector fixed my issue (apparently it was a bad connection). I hope the cable is not damaged or so…

I wonder if thermal pads that look like grey foam are efficient at all. Thinking to replace them with the traditional ones.

Try to mesure the temp before and after it’s interesting

IT FIX -

I tried, conventional thermal pads are indeed more efficient, but back plate reaches very high temp. Reverted back.

I still love my Thinkpad X1 G6. Had some issues with keyboard though. Unfortunately Lenovo refuses to repair keyboard in warranty. My left shift key kept popping out. My X1 is still under warranty, but Lenovo refused a repair and claimed “consumer induced damage” without having even seen it and other people having similar issues, especially with keys that are used often such as “e” or left shift etc. (see reddit, for example).

Fixing keys that keep popping out:

It’s possible to stick a small piece of Tesa powerstrip on top of the mount for the key clip and prevent the keys from popping out, you can find photos here as i wasn’t possible to add them here: https://blog.b-nm.at/2021/01/10/thinkpad...

Hi Tim Bruylants ,

I am having an issue where I replaced my cracked screen. After installing my new screen, the backlight is broken. Any suggestions? I tried reinstalling the old screen, and back light is not working anymore either.
