More information is required for some one to help you, does it turn on?, do you know what caused it to stop working?, any other symptoms stand out to you? what happens if you plug it in to a charger?

marsha, check on here for a bit of a lead on this. There are a couple of solutions on here and here as well. This is from a previous answer from another user

"Quit iTunes

Locate your hosts file, in Mac OS X this is /etc/hosts and in Windows this is c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Open the hosts file with Administrator privileges

Add the following lines to the very bottom of the hosts file:

74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com

(should this line already be in your host file, follow the link that Ryan provided about an answer by Majesty, it will work especially if it is jailbroken) I will tell you to delete this line as well as other lines that reference to gs.apple.com

Connect your iPhone to the computer

Launch iTunes

Put the iPhone into DFU mode by turning the phone off and then holding down the sleep and power button for 10 seconds, then release the power button but hold onto the home button until iTunes tells you that the device is now in recover mode"

Restore your phone with a new firmware and not your saved one. I personally would suggest you download custom firmware from here On top of his page, it will tell you how to use it. I would also stay away from the newest firmware for now. You could use 4.3.5/8L1. hope this will work for you. For now, do not worry to much about your LCD since it may be a. firmware issue or b. a separate error that could be resolved with a new LCD. Good Luck and let us know what happens.

Just a little tweak to an excellent answer...For the mac you need to open 'terminal' which is found in 'utilities'. Need to type "Sudo nand /hosts /etc" press enter. Then enter password (admin password) then scroll down using cursor to put a # symbol in front of anything with apple.com, save your changes and exit.

Unless you are a skilled electrical engineer with state of the art equipment and vast knowledge of the inner workings of the iPhone 4 mobo, there's not a chance that you'll actually be able to repair it. Your best bet is to see if they're for sale somewhere online, or just get a new phone..

Good luck

You are very quick to determine that it is the logic board. This site is about trying to empower people to at least attempt to repair their devices, not to just pack it in and say " get a new phone" I do not think that you have to be an electrical engineer, or more precise, an electronics engineer, to trouble shoot. Do look around and you will find that people on here even perform board level repair.

If the motherboard is corrupted, there's no way someone without an extensive electronics background and/or doesn't work for apple can repair it. I'm being realistic here. I don't like giving false hope, if that's what you're into. Have you ever even done any board-level work before? And if so, do you think the poster has? And if they haven't; do you think they'll be able to without doing anything like that before? Be realistic.. (/facepalm)

Yes. Probably not. Possibly if it need's a reflow, if it's anything else probably not. But we don't know it's a logic board, Just because a repair company says it is doesn't mean there right.

I agree with all that you are saying. I just recommend to trouble shoot, especially since it is being recognized and even gives a common error code. So far, I am not convinced that it is the logic board, but am not saying it is not. Anyhow Luc, the answers to your questions to me are a:)yes and b:)no. I am realistic, that is what makes me skeptical and provides me with critical thinking skills. Of course I did not mean to sound critical of your answer or be offending. Thanks.

if it's broken off the motherboard, the chances are you will need to solder it back. not a easy job
