Help ID a pie-shaped leftover part from a GSM iPhone 4 repair?

Hi there:

Recently replaced the screen in my iPhone 4. Everything works great, but I was left with one leftover part that I've been unable to place.

It's a flat, pie-shaped piece of metal, about 0.5cm at its widest point, with a hole in it.

Anyone have any ideas? I've reviewed the other reports of leftover parts and this one doesn't seem to match any of the ones I've seen.

Hi. The triangular washer is a black spacer that is under the Phillips screw near the vibrator. Here's a picture of the spacer. As for the tiny foam block, are you referring to the outer plastic ring located on top of the rear camera's flash assembly?

Well I think i found the piece of foam you're talking about. If you take a look at the picture of the speaker assembly, more specifically on the lower left corner, you'll notice this rectangular foam block. It looks like a brick. Is that it?

yes walter this is the block. any idea about the pie slice metalic washer/spacer/contact?

Well I'm glad we identified at least one of the components. Unfortunately I don't recall any triangular metallic spacer in the iPhone 4 GSM. Can you take a picture of the spacer?

- de

yes, but how do i post the photo to you. it seems to be the same size as the black piece in the Verizon model. All the photos and videos I am able to find show nothing under the 1.9 mm screw at teh bottom of the mother board under the ribbon connector bottom left. triangular with a hole slightly offset from center

added a photo, it must fit under the screw as a contact plate between the screw head and the 1/2 circle brass contact point on the MB.

My advice, if your iPhone still works then who cares! There are small parts like this throughout the phone that don't actually do anything and are just failsafe's if something does stop working. 99% of the time they are never needed :)

I too have been unable to find where this part actually comes from.

My disassembly of the iphone 4 was all going well until i had to turn the frame over to seperate the screen from the body - that's when the piece fell out. I didnt even notice it in the phone before it fell.

Has anyone worked out where and what this is used for?

I think this part is located under the 1.9 mm screw holding the bottom of the Mother board down. To the left side (from back)just above the speaker assembly. I am not certain but I believe its to aid contact of the screw to the Motherboard. the pointed side goes toward the outside frame and the the narrowest side to the bottom of the phone. The screw makes contact without it, so it will still work.

I've just found the exact same washer during re-assembly of a GSM iPhone 4. I've done dozens of these and never come across this washer before. It's not the plastic washer used near the vibrator on a 4S, this is pie shaped metal.

It was stuck to the adhesive where the battery sits but musty have become dislodged from someplace, but where??
